View Full Version : Aptaisia doubling about everyday to two days

I bought some orange zoo about a month ago. On the rock was a couple pieces
of aptaisia that I started killing by injecting with kalkwasser. It was
working but lately as of this week it seems that they are more plentiful and
larger.

How can I get rid of these things once and for all?

I noticed some chemicals my LFS was using on his outbreak months ago. Will
this work? Will it poluted my tank, maybe harm my fish or corals?

Best regards,

Rick

Pepermint shrimps (Lysmata wurdermanni) always worked for me.
You just kill the big ones and shrimps will take care of the
aiptasia offspring for you. If you do not like these shrimps
just borrow ten of them for a couple of weeks and return them
after their job is done. You will be ok until you reintroduce
aiptasia to your tank with another purchase...

Aiptasia ARE corals, to be more precise: anthozoans. They are anemones.
If there were chemicals agains corals I would not expect them to work
selectively on aiptasia only and not harming other softies...

If they're not too big, Peppermint Shrimp (wurdimanni, not Californicus) did
well for me.

Same here...three peppermint shrimps and they wiped out any signs of those
devils in a couple of days.
