I've tried milliput but had little success and have switched to a d&d
product manufactured with milliput but I'm still not happy.
I've built the rockwork up but was still having a few cave-ins so I switch
to this adhesive but it takes 3-4hrs to stiffen to a rubbery state and then
takes the rest of the night to harden fully.
is there any product out there that I can use that'll set in say half an
hour or less so I can do my reef scaping in a day rather than 3-4. it seems
to take a lot of this epoxy to get it to stay in one place so that it can
set. if I had something that would set quickly then I wouldn't need as
much.

Here in Australia we have something called Aqua-knead-it (It's a Selly's
product, thay make silicon and gap filler etc..
It's an epoxy 2 part putty that sets hard in about 1/2 and hour.
You probably have something similar over there, if not you could MO from
Australia.
We have reefers here who have tubes and tubes of the stuff holding
everthing fro base rock to frags.
I personally use supa glue gel, I find that coraline algae or encrusting
SPS like porites sp.or coraline algae are great for doing the final
cementing of the rock but this can take a few months to work so the supa
glue holds in the mean time.
Cable ties and holes drilled into the rock or PVC dowl are other things
I;ve used.
Conctrete works sweet in small amounts mixed with rinsed sand but is
only really an option for base rock as the 8 hrs or so out of the tank
for curing/hardening is hard on LR.
