Over the last couple nights I've noticed that the anemone has lost at least
two tentacles. I've seem them floating around the tank fully inflated. The
anemone looks fine, open pretty good and feeding well. Anyone know if this
is a natural behavior or what could cause it? There's a maroon clown hosting
in the anemone as well that is usually quite aggressive.
TIA

Your Maron clown is probably nipping the tenticles off.

About 2 1/2 inches or so, highly aggressive. Thinks nothing of attacking my
hand.

I have two BTA's (originally from one that split) and I have always been
told to make sure that the fish you want to host to a anemone should be much
smaller than the anemone. They can flat wear them out. Small clarki clowns
(no larger than 1 1/2" are good for BTA's but the best I think is skunk
clowns. They are not as pretty as the maroons and clarki but are much more
docile and not a threat to your hand. I would either get a larger anemone or
smaller fish. If you don't the BTA won't last long. It might be good too to
let your BTA rest a little while before you introduce another fish. I know
your Maroon is a pretty fish and expensive but you are headed for disaster
if you don't separate them. Can you but the BTA in another tank?
Just my 2 cents,
