I've had an on going problem with very fine air bubbles in my return
line. I have a 125 gallon tank with two drilled returns on each side of
the back. I have them connected to each other with a tee in the middle
which the goes to my pump an Iwaki 50. Could this tee be causing the
bubbles?

Thanks, Ken

very fine bubbles are usually caused by air getting sucked into the line
somewhere before the pump (intake side) to check your T just slowly pour
some water over it and it should temporarily seal the leak and stop the
bubbles, when you find the leak you may be able to just silicone it to stop
the leak.

The overflows are plumbed directly to the pump? .. with no sump? sort of like
a closed loop, but with an opening? if this is th ecase you will definately
have microbubbles in your tank

I have a sump, the tank drains into an overflow then back into sump. I
really don't get many bubbles in the sump.

There is a leak in your return. A leak will cause one of two things;

1: Water will seep out of the line onto the floor, irritating your
spouse.
2: The water racing by the leak will suck air through the leak,
causing the mist in the tank, irritating the aquarist.
