Hi:

I purchased a yellow cup coral, but the top surface toward the light is now
green. I am using 250W MH at 10K and the coral is now placed at the bottom
(18" deep) in the tanks. My other corals are doing great. Any suggestion
on what to do to have it return to the bright yellow color. I originally
had it near the surface, but it appeared to be doing poorly, so I placed it
new the bottow. The polyops are beginning to extent now. If anyone has
expereince with yellow cup, I would love to hear your recommendations. The
tanks has SPS, elegant, yellow toadstool, rose bubble tips, green bubble
tips, carpet anenomes and various other polps. Thanks in advance for your
thoughts.

I have a similar problem with my Tubinaria frondens. It was a lovely bright
yellow when I received it a few months ago. Some weeks later it is mostly
brown with some yellow. Probably a lighting thing.

It been my experience that cup corals that show signs of tissue damage at
the time or soon there after they were purchased only last a matter of
weeks. Most likely the cause is rough handling or tempurature shock during
longdistant shipping or possibly a failure to acclimate them slowly enough.
As well as not allowing them enough time acclimate to intense lighting
conditions. If all else fails a reputable coral dip might give favorable
results.
