HELP-Urgent...fish in trap

Hi guys, I have a domino damsel that has been terrorizing my other tanks mates
as he ages so I finally decided that I was gonna get him out and had made
arrangements with my LFS so take him back. I have been trying to trap him for
the past 3 nights and tonight I finally got his butt. My concern now is that If
I leave him in the trap until tomorrow afternoon he will die from lack of
oxygen. I NEED SOME QUICK ADVICE ON WHERE TO PUT HIM SO THAT HE WILL NOT DIE. I
do not have another tank to put him in. Should I raise the trap so that a
portion of it is above the water line? Would that help? He is a beautiful fish
and I want him to find a good home somewhere else :-)

WHen your fish is shipped to the LFS, they spend much longer than
that in a plastic bag inside a dark styrofoam cooler. Myself, I've
bagged fish and floated them for up to 24 hours for the same resons
you are. As long as the temp is maintained, he should be fine. I have
non-transparent bags that cut down on stress since the fish can't see
out of the bag.

Try your best at putting it in the largest container with fresh tank water
and change the water over back to the tank just before you go to bed and
give him some more fresh stuff.

It's better to give him a good chance.

You can try a 2 liter bottle and have alot of hole with the top cut off.
Have that bottle tie and let it hang with a fishing line or plastic tie to
secure it in your tank.

Use a cooler to with your tank water to transport to your LFS when it time.

Thanks for the advice....I was able to make a successful trip to the LFS and
replace him with some beautiful Green Chromis. Thanks again

That will be a mystery. Or should I say, for him to know and for us to find

Actually I ended up using a plexiglass cylinder type trap that I borrowed from
my LFS. It has a sliding door on on end that is held open with fishing
line....when the fish goes in you release the line and the door shuts Seems
simple enough right?

The trick was getting him to go inside. After one long night of missed attempts
I just started putting their food in the trap and they became comfortable going
in and out. By the third day I simply put the food in the trap....with the door
closed and let them go crazy trying to get inside. Once I opened the trap door
a bit the domino was the first on in and BINGO....got his a** !! I I raised
the trap to the level of the water line so that there was some movement inside
to keep it oxygenated. The next day I bagged him up and traded for a nice group
of green chromis.

The stress level in my tank has dropped tremendously. The chromis really do get
the more timid fish to come out and be seen. Thanks to those of you that
replied :-)
