View Full Version : Leather Coral Help Wanted Please

Hi All
I've got a leather coral with the business end about 8" in diameter and a
stalk of about 12". It seems to be battling to hold its weight upright. I'm
aware that a leather coral can be cut for frags. I'd like to know what
effect it would have on the coral if I hacked it's stalk in half. Its not
firmly planted onto a rock and it's footing shouldn't be an issue as it had
no firm footing when I bought it about 6 months ago. If it can be chopped,
is there an easy way to do it without re-enacting the texas chainsaw
massacre?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Thanks Marc. I'm grateful for your time. Is it OK for me to take it out of
the water while I'm cutting it?

Chris,
You can cut up that leather any way you like, with a sharp razor blade or
knife. Even if you turned it into a bowl of cubes, each piece would eventually
regrow into a new leather.

Yes. Here's a page from my site when we had a coral propagation workshop (Macna
XV last year). I should have linked it before.

Nature awesome? Only if I can be able to fly like those bird or swim deep in
the ocean like those whale. 8;) If I have those abilities, that will be
awesome.
