View Full Version : protein skimmer ?

I have had a skilter running on my 20g tank since last summer and I
want to upgrade. All the protein skimmers I have found are way to
large for a 20g but I ran across a ViaAqua on e-bay and also in the
March issue of TFH. Is this a good filter/skimmer for a 20g? Is $100
a good price for it on e-bay? What other options would be good for a
tank this size?

Thank you for your help,
Vicki

I had a Via Aqua multiskimmer on my 20g tank and used it for maybe 2 days,
nothing wrong with it, but I decided to trade in my dwarf lion fish and opt
for a couple brackish water puffers that the LFS acclimated to full marine
for me (and they are some really dirty fish). So I went out and bought a
seaclone 100.

In any event, it's a pretty good skimmer for a 20g tank, but $99.00 is the
local retail around me for it and thats what I payed. If you want, I can
sell you mine (only been used about 2 or 3 days and in new condition) for
$75.00 plus shipping.

Let me know in this group as I never check the yahoo mail that this account
is assigned.

I run a cpr bak pak2 on my 10 gal tank, i dont think you can really over
skim. Although there are a few exceptions, but those are very rare and are
dependent on certain coral species. but i wouldnt recommend the CPR just
because of the rio pump that they like to use, but there are similar
skimmers for the same price range around $100-120.

Let me talk to my husband and I will get back to ya. It sounds like a
good price, what would shipping be?

I dont know where you live, but I'd do the shipping for $10.00 (and just
take whatever loss is incurred - since the skimmer is now just sitting in my
garage).

Let me know.
