A quick post here....

I just finished creating my DIY filter page with enough progress to
report and be of interest (I hope). I am excited about this project.
Let me know what you think...... constructive criticism is welcome. The
pictures should all be click-to-enlarge and I don't think the link to
download the plans is working.

I wish I could show y'all the circulation I am getting! It's amazing!
Just sometimes, things work like they did on paper, but not always :)
Maybe I'll take a short video clip or something........

Very nice. Glad to see that it's coming together well.

Well, I finally managed to check the site. The filter/sump looks pretty
good. I'm impressed with the design and the minimal setting that you
havve to work in. And yes, the plan download isn't working: "page or
info not found".

And when it comes down to it, I don't have the expertize to offer any
critisim on the plan or design. I like the idea of using the recycled
plexi and the tips on making darn sure that your edges are true before
trying to weld the pieces together.

I still can't access the site - tried when I first saw your post - it
just tells me that the site "is currently unavailable"....

Might explain the lack of comments/replies....although it looks like
some people have managed to get to it...

Not yet. But it generated at least this reader's interest enough to
visit the site.

Actually, I thought it looks quite nice. I too was thinking of a DIY W/D
for my next tank, but I think I'm leaning towards using a 20g glass tank as
the sump and fashioning some sort of bucket or basket (maybe made of
acrylic) over it and filling with bio balls. Or maybe buying this
http://www.aquacrylics.com/150info.htm ,but then its not really DIY, is it
:) Perhaps I could make that basket or something similar, but I would still
buy an overflow box. I did see a much nicer box here
https://www.petsolutions.com/CPR+300+GPH+Continuous+Siphon-I-46304581-I-C-26-C-.aspx ,
(note, no J tube) but it isn't cheap. Or I will probably get the same box
that I am currently using, from my LFS for 50 buck, it comes with a
filtering sponge in it, catches all the big stuff first (including a couple
neon tetras, I saved them, then the Angels ate them anyway).
Good luck and keep us posted.

HA!

Well, thanks for the replies after all. I'm working on a couple
overflow boxes and working out the siphon plumbing now. I can't wait to
get it finished. I want to start on the styrofoam rock sculpture thing!

If I get time at work, I'll update the plans and put them on the site.

Thanks all!

For any interested. I added more scrubbies and cut the filter sponges
in half horizontally and stacked em like bricks. It tends to pass all
the water THROUGH the sponges instead of between em'

Gotta build an overflow next.
