New to the group and just wanted to say hello to everyone. I am new to
Google groups so any tips would be appreciated. Take care and have a
great day.

Ok, you asked for it.
I strongly suggest you get a real news reader. Google is fine as a Usenet
archive and for searching for old articles.
But their web interface (aka Google Groups) is horrible for active
participation in Usenet.
One of the most frequent complains is listed in this quote:
For [snipped] and everybody else with "User-Agent: G2/#.#":
"How can I automatically quote the previous message
when I post a reply?"
http://groups.google.co.uk/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14213

But Google needs you to vote for 'Default quoting of
previous message in replies'

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been cutting and pasting to do
standard Usenet replies and it was driving me nuts. Google is a horrid
newsreader but it has the advantage of being on all my computers at
home and at work.

Hi and welcome to the group. :-) Google is an awful way to post. Get
yourself a free NewsServiceProvider.

If your ISP gives you free newsgroup access, Forte Free Agent is a
terrific free newsgroup reader. I've been using it for at least a
decade.

I tried Forte Free Agent and didn't care much for it. I always come back to
OE. ;-)

OE is comfortable and familiar. Like Internet Explorer. Microsoft
likes it that way. I never used OE for anything until I tried it for
newsgroups a couple of weeks ago. I found it terribly confusing and
lacking in features. Not very customizable. Guess it's what you're
used to that matters. But we're getting off topic here. We're supposed
to be talking about our cats, and I'm waiting for an opening to tell
you about my big, beautiful dogs. Four cats and two dogs and a spouse
is just about right on the bed for these long winter nights. Fish just
don't cut it.

I think you've answered the wrong thread sort of - maybe the last bit
should have been under 12LB Cat Fish thread....just please don't go
cross posting about dogs to the cat people though they might get upset...LOL

I have the anti-crossposting option ticked on my Agent software.
Ticked. That's what you say on your side of the pond, isn't it?

Fish have their good points such as no fur around the house, no noise, no
demanding a walk in bad weather, no funky litter pans to clean. It all
depends on what you want in a pet. ;-)
