Tank Trinkets
February 20th 06, 07:23 PM
Ok I am new here and I see posts for Do It Yourself, DIY, and I have a
do it yourself story. If I am breaking any group rules please let me
know, politely if you do not mind, and it won't happen again. My name
is Shane, I live in California, I have been a fish hobbyist for 20
years, and I recently started a very small business called Tank
Trinkets.
Tank Trinkets is proud to introduce the first line of holiday
decorations for fish/reptile tanks.
Our products are handmade and painted in the USA and provide a new and
unique opportunity for you to once again make your fish/reptile tank
the conversation piece of your home or office.
Traditionally you have not been able to decorate your fish tanks for
each holiday and this will allow you to do so. We have a full line of
holiday themed products that will fit all sizes of fish/reptile tanks.
Please visit our website, www.tanktrinkets.com , and fish around.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions at our website by
clicking on the more info button or calling us at (818) 974-4454.
Tanks a lot for your consideration and have a swimmingly fine day.

Hi Shane,
There is a newsgroup rec.aquaria.marketplace for just this type of
stuff...it might be better to post there. In the meanwhile for any fishy
type chat, problems or experiences shared please feel free to join us
here...
Cheers

Opinions vary and may undoubtedly get some mail declaring you a spammer.
You aren't of course, but if you were to make a regular habit of
what you just did. What you might weant to do to make poeple awre
of your stuff without getting in poeples faces is to condense
your schtick down to 2-4 lines and keep it in a signature file;
they're always fair game, or rather they have been for 25+
years. See the bottom of this posting to get an idea.
You may hear other opinions than this, but this is the kind of
thing I had in mind when I created the aquaria groups way back when;
- to find a compromise between spam and living in a commercial vacuum.
Ironically I have a 20 year old son named Shane too.

Opinions will vary, but I don't think an introductory post on topic like
yours is spam at all. Now if you were to send it again, then the situation
changes (once is novelty, twice is a commercial imo). I favour Richard's
idea, of just having a few lines in your sig.
Now about your holiday idea, I was taught that if you have nothing nice to
say, you should say nothing ;~), but I'm not big on holiday stuff anyways,
so I wouldn't be representative... but I kind of like this one
http://www.tanktrinkets.com/dtlchiminary.htm (out of my price range, but
cute, hopefully fish-safe). Best of luck with it!

Can someone tell me if this reply goes to everyone please. Thanks for
being so nice in your responses and I will not post anything futher
about my side thing. I do look forward to being apart of the group and
again thanks so much for not beating me over the head, LOL.

We are taking a closer look at the cost concern and thanks for being so
cool about everything and I will not post anything further about the
topic at hand.

You posted to the group so yes...it is seen by all...your side thing
isn't an issue but it is really preferable to do this the way that
Richard Sexton suggested or by posting to rec.aquaria.market.place....
So come on, tell us about your fish <g>

If you really want to get beat over the head, tell everyone that you
think Whisper filters are better than Aquaclears.

What everyone else said...but boy are they cute! I wish I had room in
my tank for the shamrocks but there's not a bit of unplanted gravel
anywhere. Ah, well.

Plus it's nice to see something made in America for a change.
An old office mate of mine a feweyars back said "The only
thing made in America any more is a deal"

Give it a little time. If his product sells well, WalMart will either
sign him up, buy him out, or simply steal his ideas and set up another
factory in china.

Nice but they're really not my thing. You should put these on Ebay. Also,
some mom and pop aquarium/pet stores may purchase them by the dozen from you
for resale. Good luck with them. :-)

There's still time for NetMax to build a fishy Christmas Castle to
decorate.

And I don't even drink. Unh unh. I learned long ago that drinking
while surfing can be as dangerous as drinking while surfing. One of
the leading causes of internet unpleasantness.
