View Full Version : sea salt in fresh water tanks

I would very much appreciate help re the sea salt in fresh water issue.
Some of my babies have tail rot and I have been advised that besides
the antifugal dose I should add 300 grms of sea salt to my fresh water
tank. It is 100 ltrs in size. Can any body help.

If your fish have tail rot I would first check the WATER QUALITY. Healthy
goldfish in clean water don't develop fin rots. I hope you've been doing
your weekly partial water changes. That will do more good than adding salt.
I raise goldfish and don't use salt at all. Large partial water changes
will help your fish tremendously.

I cleared up tail rot in my goldfish by dosing with seasalt. Try to use
as little salt as possible, maybe increasing it until condition clears
up.
