View Full Version : Fish from Internet

I ordered a Dottyback, 3 lettuce slugs and a Linkia Star from an Internet
site last week. The Dottyback arrived floating, no gill action at all.
I'm still trying to acclimate her by dripping in a bucket, the water was
blue, so I'm assuming they packed her with some sort of acetone, or other
sedative. After 4.5 hours no gill movement at all.

The Linkia arrived a pile of mush. Trying with drip acclimation, but based
on the smell of the bag and appearance I'm not optimistic.

The slugs appeared to move, after 4 hours of drip acclimation they appeared
to be fine. So we'll see.

My guess is that they had them packed a day b4 shipment, I could be wrong as
this is the first time I have purchased fish over the net. Very likely the
last...

Any comments, advice, would be appreciated.

Jim

I'd like to know as well. I've ordered from liveaquaria.com and
fishsupply.com and gotten spectacular stock shipped very well.

Wasn't good. Everything is toast. I ordered from Aquacon.com . I have
heard good things from them in the past, I'm sure they'll make it right.
I'll keep you all posted.

You orderd from who?/ aqua-what? oh,, aquaCON.. should have thrown a flag up
there ;)..
Youve heard good things?? where have you been hanging out? I have heard
nothing but bad about them. do a search on some of the larger mesage boards,
like reefcentral.. not trying to flame you, just pointing out things that I
have heard (never orderd from them) about aquacon and hope that no one else
ends up with dead animals.. Let us know how things turn out.

Most sites have a live arrival guarantee ... any site that doesn't is a huge
sign of trouble

Looks like they have a 3-day live guarantee ... it sounds like your best bet
is to give up trying to save them and work on getting your money back.

Well looks like their "guarantee" is very good. Only applied to the fish
and slugs I purchased, not the starfish. All arrived DOA. I would avoid
these folks.

I've only heard bad things about Aquacon.com (and everyone mentions the word CON
as they feel conned or ripped off by a con-artist).

Sorry to hear about your losses. Post if you get a full refund.

Marc

All they were willing to do is replace the dottyback and the 3 slugs on my
next order as the linkia star was not guaranteed. These things arrived
dead. THe Linkia had almost completely decomposed when it arrived at my
house. I'm not going to order from them again and am going to pursue a
chargeback thru my credit card. Avoid these folks!!!!
