Feeding HermitsYes, once a week I overfeed on the day Im feeding krill, so that some goes to the bottom and my hermits end up eating it along with my brittlestar. The owner of my LFS said, the point to having a healthy balance, is that you dont want to feed your cleaning crew anything, and have just enough of them to keep your tank clean of debris.
personally, thats all fine and well, but I dont want one starving to death and dying in my tank either. He also said I could never had enough snails, and that there will always be enough algae in a tank to feed a snail population. My emerald crab does a good job of goinb around and mowing the algaes longer strands, but he will gladly sneak out of the rockwork to get that algae wafer that I drop in once a week. I think everyones got algae in their tanks that have been up for a while, some of it just may not be all that noticible to our eyes. I dont have much on the glass, but I have plenty on the liverock.

Feeding HermitsI toss in a bit of extra food for the hermits. They seem to all converge on it at once and I know their is plenty of excess debris in their for them to siphon when they pick up the gravel, etc.
