Can someone help me ID this guy? These pics are all a little blury, but I
think show enough detail. It looks exactly like an emerald, but red (are
there red emeralds?). Also, should I be trying to remove him? As far as I
can tell, he hasn't done any damage but he's getting HUGE...I would guess 3"
in diameter. Thanks.

I'm not sure. Boomer might know, because he's helped me ID a few crabs. It is
a pretty specimen.

Looks like a Decorator crab of the species Xenocarcinus to me. They eat
algae and sift sand. That's pretty much all I know about them. They are
reef safe and pretty peaceful.

It is one of the Majidae, Mithrax crabs, ofthen called "clinging crabs"

It is a mithrax crab, but some of these suckers get BIG.
