View Full Version : Bi-color blenny eating my gorgonian!

I recently purchased some soft coral frags from GARF. 8 of the 10
arrived healthy and happy (2 had fallen off their growth plugs during
shipment) and are establishing themselves nicely in my tank. I also
recently added a small bi-color blenny to the tank. For the first few
days all was well.

The blenny found itself a few nice hiding places and would cruise
about the live rock taking sharp, rather aggressive nips out of the
algae. GREAT I thought... Today I came home from work and noticed that
all of the polyps on my purple gorgonian were retracted (all other
corals fine). One by one they started to extend over the next hour.
All of a sudden the blenny attacked, taking vigorous bites out of the
gorgonian. Polyps retract in a flash. Anyone else have similar
experiences? or is my blenny an oddball?

Thanks,
Tom Rhindress

Same problem with a sailfin blenny eating polyps. I would try to pull
him out.
