I am considering this model for my 90 gal. I like the way you can hook
it up to a bypass off of your overflow, which allows you to use no pump
to operate the skimmer. Has anybody used this skimmer? Does this
skimmer really work well this way or does it require the use of a pump
to be effective? Is this skimmer any good or should I go in a
different direction like: Red Sea Berlin PS with a Mag 7. Which PS is
better? Any opinions?

I had one on a 75Gal and it was nothing to write home about. The needle
wheel is a pain and you have to check it periodically to ensure you are not
missing needles. If you lose needles, you loose performance.
I have an ETSS 750 with a Mag 12 and love it. Yes, it is expensive, but it
would not have been enarly as expensive if I had not bought the TF1000
before hand.

I always recommend Aqua C or EuroReef protein skimmers. Both are excellent.

I have two Turboflotors running as I type this. Never had a problem with
either, both bought used and I've had both for over a year now. Oceanrunner
pumps,
not the mags :)
It has always had some really nice foam, both tanks are large, 110 and 135.
For the 120 bucks a used one goes for, it was well worth it IMO
