I'm looking for a little input on finding a small multi purpose filter ...
let me explain what I would like to use it for:
First off, I would like it to be able to provide filtering for my 5G
quarantine tank. When the quarantine tank isn't being used I'd like to able
to store it's filter media in my Filstar XP2 canister filter, such that when
I need to use it, it's all ready to go (no cycling). I also would like to
be able to use this multi purpose filter to clean my main 55G tank with
carbon. This way if I have to clean the water up, etc. after medication,
etc. I don't have to deal with the canister filter to insert carbon for just
a day or two (it's a planted tank so I don't want carbon on a regular
basis).
The internal Fluval filters seem quite popular, but I don't think they have
actual compartments that you can fill with carbon, etc. That would mean I'm
stuck buying carbon cartridges made for it ... expensive. I've also looked
at the Duetto filters, they seem to have compartments, but I can't find any
locally, so I can't verify in person, only from . I would really
appreciate any input on the Duetto filters and whether they might fit my
needs. Also if you can think of any other filters that could work, I'd love
to hear about them.
Thanks,
Harry
