Would there been any negative benefit to placing aragonite sand on top of
crushed coral, about 2 inches of each in a 55 gallon aquarium that is being
set up for a reef tank?
Currently have about three inches of crushed coral on top of an undergravel
filter, definitely getting rid of the undergravel filter.
Also any suggestions on where i could bye some base rock, currently need
about 30 plus lbs.
Thanks in advance

After some time, the crushed coral will mix with the sand i.e., the
seperation of the 2 layers is only a temporary phase.

WWW.reeferrock.com is where I got my base rock. People will post other
places as well for base rocks.

Since you are getting rid of the undergravel filter, just get rid of the
crushed coral at the same time, and put in calcium sand. Keep in mind that when
you do, it will take a little while for the sand bioactivity to ballance out,
like it does in a new tank.
