Hi,
Just wondering what could cause a major colour loss in a goldfish (comet) 2
nights ago one of my comets which I have had for about 4 years last lost
nearly all its colour. It is a pretty big comet nearly 20cm (8inches) in
length.

I have checked my water as I normally do and everything is just fine, the
fish is still active, swimming normally the other fish is leaving it alone,
its still eating normally.

Should I be worried?

cheers
Scott

Color isn't always stable in goldfish but losing color in 2 days is unusual.
What color was he/she and what color is it now? It's very common for the
brown ones to turn orange over time. Even some Moors turn orange - but not
in a few days.

He was entirely gold and now nearly entirely white.

He has been swimming around quite happily appart from the colour he hasnt
changed in behaviour etc.

I have done a couple of 50% water changes, changed all filters but all seems
fine still.

I've seen them turn white but it took longer than a couple of days. Your
fish just seems to have done it more quickly than most. As long as he's
acting normal, eating etc. I wouldn't be concerned about him.
