Looking for suggestions or feedback on what I have done.
While I belive my tank has Ich or I have cured the problem?
120g
LR/LS
Current Inverts-Feather Dusters-Snails-Starfish-Hermits-Polyps and 1
coral
3 of 12 fish where effected
Brazilian Gramma (died) was new to tank (<1 week)and went very fast
not sure if it was ich that killed it (ate the night before it died
,and showed no other Ich symptoms like rapid breathing or scraping on
the rocks. Was eaten on when i found it dead so another fish may have
killed it.
Brown Tang and Clown showed a very few white spots only on the fins
and currenty dont have any.
( I would like to QT, but I need to buy a QT setup-not in my buget
this week_ will do next week)
I thought I would first try somthings-praying for a miracle and my
prayers maybe answered.
Here is what I have done
Because I have inverts and live rock and no QT the only treatments I
have been able to do is,
1. "Raise the temp" I did raise the temp for several days 82-83 and
there was some die off but did not completly remove it. did not lower
the salinity (not good for inverts).
Result-White spot count has droped on my tang and clown but still had
a few
2.Cleaner Shrimp has been also helping by cleaning off the fish, I
know this will not cure the problem but the shrimp has been busy
reducing the white spot count on the 2 fish effected.
Result-White spot count has droped
3.Gave the tang and clown a 3-4 min fresh water dip only to get rid of
the Ich on them.
Result-mayhave removed all the Trophonts that where on the fish
4.I think the Ich may have gone back into the free swiming stage so i
setup my diatom to polish the water and will continue to run it for
several days. The Vortex diatom can trap & filter parasites as small
as 1000 microns. I have read it will help remove Ich (only when in
the (Theronts) free swiming stage).
Result-Elimated the free floting stuff in the tank that may have
contained tomites
5. Garlic- This maybe the best yet? I grow my own garlic so I tore
off some leaves from the plant and put it in the tank on my vegie
clip, the tang has been eating it and I know the leaves contain garlic
extract so this also has helped
With all these contributing factors is it possible that I may have
stoped the problem?
What is some other remedy I can keep doing? Any chemicals safe for
reef and Inverts?
What should I look for now.
Maybe problem solved?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and helping
