G.E. Silicone II

Anyone use this with problems ? it says not for aquarium use, yet, it says
100% Silicone, and doesnot mention anything about mildew additives ?

AS long as it is the door and window version not the kitchen and bath
version you are OK. If you are connecting glass to glass though
silicone I is actually a little stronger than silicone II, you still
need to make sure you get the door and window version though.

This is an RTV type of silicone adhesive, although it works Ok in most
cases, it is not the best choice for use to build or repair aquariums.

RTV type silicone adhesives are fairly high modulus, most fall into
the ammonical humidity cure category.

The preferred silicone rubber adhesives for aquarium use are of the
low modulus HMA types in the acetic or acetoxy cure category. They
have higher adhesion to glass, are slightly more flexible and hold
tight at much higher psi ratings than the RTV types.

RTV types of silicones can often be easily peeled off of glass.
HMA types of silicones require one heck of a lot of scraping to get it
off.
