Hey Miguel

Nice to see another South African here :o
Is what you're doing even legal? Are you allowed to capture fish from rock
pools down there?
These fish are coming straight from a natural environment and into your
tank, I don't think its surprising that they had an Ich breakout, I think
you've been lucky it was only Ich and not death! Why don't you just purchase
captive bred fish? There is a local mailing list with a couple of SW guys,
perhaps they can recommend some places for you to go fish shopping...

Others can comment on your remedy, but the black spots on the clown are
normal, apparently this is a reaction to the stings of the host anemone.

Thanx for the response Happy'Cam'per,

Capturing fish from rock pools or (snorkel) diving is premitted provided you
have a licence which you can get from the Post Office or in my case, KZN
Conservation. Obviously there are limits / restrictions to what you can
take.

The two butterfly fish which are the captive fish and generally show the
signs of white spot ich off and on have been in the tank since 4th May 2004.
So having survived over a month they are doing quite well. A colleague I
work with (had marine aquariums for 20 yrs or so) has mostly fish that he
has caught himself.

If you go to the beach, particularly on a spring tide, it isn't uncommon to
see people hunting for fish in the rock pools and even people snorkeling for
fish in either the bigger rock pools or past the rocks. There is a nice
spot where I got the two butterflies which is like a large natural tidal
pool.

Where are you from?

Miguel
