I have a 155 gal tank. with a 40 gal sump
I would like to increase the sump volume, how ever I do not have room
under the stand.
I would like to add a second sump (6o gal) with will be remotely located
(outside in a shed - temp controlled)
I would need to bury the plumbing (under a walk way)
I believe the floor in the shed is about 6 inches higher than my current
sump. The sumps are appros 18 inches tall. I realise I would lose some
volume if this is the case. I need to verify the hieght of the 2 floors
I want to mount my skimmer in this new sump. What would be the best way
to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance
Mc

I do plan on connecing the sumps.
What I was thinking was having the overflows going to the existing sump,
connecting the sumps with 2" PVC, and then the returns come from the new
sump.
Water level would be controlled in the second sump, via float switches and a
float valve. Skimmer would also be in the second sump.

TIA,
Mc

The external sump will have to run pretty shallow by comparison to the
inside one, because the external one is 6" higher. Water will seek its
own level, and what is half full outside will be completely full inside.
