Hi all I wonder if anyone could recommend a good hang on wet dry filter for
a 65 gallon tank?

depends
why?
whats your bio load?
how much LR?
how much other water movement?
generally the emperor 400 will perform ok on a 65 with no LR and a low/medium bio-load
more than that and 2 work good. as a single unit aiming for 10X turnover per hour you
really want 650gph the emperor is good for 400.

I was really thinking more along the lines of this type of filter

I have one big fish, panther grouper, 3" livesand and 25 lb live rock, my
tank is about 14 years old. I want to replace the old hang on which is
getting brittle and cracked; the brackets are already snapped off and I am
holding it up with a block of wood.
