Additives/Vitamins

Can someone demystify the additives/vitamins supplements in a reef setup
mystery for me? I feel like I need a PhD in microbiology for this hobby
sometimes. For example, if you had to select say 5 additives, what would
they be?

fresh water for top offs
salt water for waterchanges
calcium & alk booster used to refresh what is consumed


do not add anything you cant test for!!!! and dont add it unless you know that its both
low and needed!
