Anybody out there use Ruby Reef's Kick Ick in a reef tank? I got a 90g full of
white spotted friends. How does Seachem's Metronidazole compare beyond being
far cheaper? Also, any thoughts on UV vs. medicating?

Won't this just stress the fish out and cheese off the corals? If I did this,
how long would I have to do it for? -M333

If you have a reef tank, do not reduce the salinity in the tank, move all
fish to quarantine and use hyposalinity there. The life cycle of crypto is
around 6 weeks long, so an 8 week stay in hypo (and no fish in the main
tank) will rid you of the problem. Ich cannot continue past a certain stage
of life if there is no host (fish) present.

I used kick ick and it worked.
Make sure that you turn off skimmer.
I also used the heavy dosing and did it for 4 weeks not just the 2
weeks. I only lost a white carpet anemonia. The only fish lost was an
achilles tang which brought in the ick.

good luck
