View Full Version : Tang spawning with glass?

Hi all,

I have a yellow tang that constantly flaps its body against the glass
(as if it were engaging in spawning.)

I did that to a Hippo tang (small) for a while, and now the Hippo
doesn't come out of a hiding place underneath a brain coral.

TIA,

Rich

It doesn't appear to be rubbing part of its body against the glass, like
there might be an irritant (ich?) on its skin, does it?

You did what to a Hippo tang? Flap it against the glass? Nasty!

No, I meant to say that it did that to the Hippo the first couple of days.

I don't see any lesion on the yellow tangs skin.

I would guess the yellow was attacking the Hippo because of the common
yellow tail. it is likely attacking its relection on the glass. Mine did the
same for the first couple of days I had it (glass thing).

Mine for awhile was doing this, but he was attacking his reflection. =)

You devil you, there are some sick-o's that'd pay money to see that.

Thank you all very much for your advice. I've concluded that it's not
attempting to spawn, but rather, trying to fight the reflection.

Hopefully, he/she will outgrow it.

Rich
