Hello all,

I am in the process of setting up a 20 gal quarantine tank for new arrivals
and although I have aragonite substrate, it will be completely empty in
regards to shelter objects. I do have several rocks that I have collected
over the years and used in my freshwater tanks for decorations. The
quarantine tank will be a 20 gal mirror back (it's what I have) Magnum 350
canister filter, 100 watt glass heater, aragonite substrate and powerhead
for additional water circulation and areation. Lighting will be 2 15 wattt
flourescent tubes on a timer (I don't plan on running them long to help keep
the stress down).

Has anyone else used freshwater deco/real rocks in a marine tank? There
will obviously be freshwater algae spores on the rocks however I can give
them a quick sanitizing bath although I normally don't sterilize them for my
freshwater rotations.

Thank you,
Justin

I just use a bare bottom and PVC fittings of various shapes and sizes...
Much easier to break down and sterilize after use....
Substrate would be difficult to sterilize, so would be best replaced each
time...
IMHO......

I use a mix of RO water and bleach... followed by a rinse in RO water and
de-chlorinator....
Plus complete drying.....
