I currently have the Rio HyperFlow as a return pump for my 100G tank.
I'm thinking of replacing it with the Iwaki MD20RLT, but not sure
which will move more water all things being equal. I know the Iwaki
may be quieter, and create less heat. That being said, any comments?

Don't know which model of the RIO that you have, but I can say the 20rlt
will not put out much water, for a 100 gallon reef tank, I would suggest
a 40rlxt myself for the return pump.

Kim,
Thanks for the info. I just found an Iwaki 70RT which I'm
considering. This powerhouse looks like it can move some serious
water.

I have the 32hyperFlow on my 100g FOWLR & it works okay. If I didn't
have other current in the tank I'd be upset with the output. But hey it's a
Rio I've learned not to expect much from them.
I am thinking about upgrading to an Ampmaster 2000 & upgrading the
impeller to a bigger model (saves about $50.00).
