Hello all,

I live in Australia and I am looking for a good RO unit with DI. They
cost $400 here for the basic model with no DI

Does anybody know a good supplier in the US that would post one of these
units via standard post, most suppliers I have contacted via ebay only post
UPS at a cost of around $100!

Thanks

Rich

Yes we are having similar problems ourselves..
Doesn't work out cheap to bring one back here to AUS so we have found out.
A mate and myself are looking into getting one each brought over here as
well...

Where in AUS are you ?

Microbot and I were going to buy 2 from the US and get a discount in the
freight cost, we worked out that the total cost was going to be around
$250aus. I have looked at several brands in AUS that can come close to that
price.

Our home based business has mailed items to Australia and New Zealand
before. We are fortunate enough that the items mailed could be sent US
Postal Service Air mail and not be very expensive. I would expect that a
large ticket item like an RO or RO/DI would be better shipped UPS or FedEx.
Those companies have package tracking capability whereas Air Mail
certification will only verify that it made it to the country, not your
door. If I was the shipper for such a valuable item, I too would require a
shipping service that would track the package to the customer for proof of
delivery.

Unfortunately the only water filtering devices we have found over here at
Home Depot type stores are Single stage only.
And these Single stage filters cost around $350+ AUD in some places.
Not good when you consider your Dollar is worth nearly twice ours...
And from the ones we have found, there's concerns as to geting filter
replacements.
We have managed to find better units here but nothing as good as what be
purchased from over your way...
Trying to not get shafted and to buy a good filter has proven to possibly be
very expensive.

You can try MarineDepot.com

The shipping to Aus. will cost you though.

Rich I've seen these thing for sale over here for a lot less than that.
I paid about $250 for mine and it's a 100GPD I used to use Aquarium
Pharmacuiticals Tap Water Purifier as a DI but my canisters broke. I saw
A post DI on Reefonline for about $130.
IMO you could get a better deal from Aus. Shipping will kill you.
Look into water purification shops not aquarium shops, they are a rip
off more often than not.

As long as the membrane is a TFC (I think that is the good one).
then the quality of the water will be similar form all RO units.
Don't believe everything that you read, those kent ones or other BIG
names brands are just better marketed not better products.
You can get a better deal here in Aus if you look around.
