water parameters seem normal except that phosphates are between 0.1 and
0.25ppm and I cannot get them down but I keep having to rake over the gravel
every day. I left for work and everything was OK. the gravel was clean. I
was home early this morning at around 5.30 am and again the gravel was clean
but as I did an inspection I noticed a couple of strange things. on the
rock where my green polyps are there seems to be a mussel like object in the
rock. it looks to be transparent but shortly after putting the torch light
onto it clammed up.
behind this appears to be a couple of aiptasia. they are very fine and
white in colour, so I decided when I got up to go and sort these pests out
but checking the tank out reveals no sign of any of these pests. when I got
rid of my last aiptasia outbreak none of them were fussy about light and
came out any time of day or night. are these worth wrecking half a tank
full of rock to get at or should I leave well enough alone until they get
bigger. I fear that they will spread by the time I can get at them.
