Bill Gates will not help you agains e-mail address collector
robots lurking newsgroups everyday...
There are two methods of fighting with spam coming this way:
1. add spam filter into your e-mail address, something like

2. use free web based email service just for newsgroups
best are hotmial.com, yahoo.com etc... other e-mail
addresses you got from ISP use ONLY for private
messages, this way you limit spam mixed with important
letters on your "good" account.

1st method is not as good as the second - address collector
scripts are getting better in removing anti-spam inserts every
day so it will not help adding "nospam" because filter will
cut is as well and spam your inbox. Other than that, you anoy
newsgroup users who try to contact you by replying to you
just to find out the letter bounced back as non-delivery...
Sometimes it does not even bounce back and you are misled
thinking somebody ignores you when your recipient never
received your email.
I am using 2nd method personally - I get over 200 spam
e-mails every day on my polbox.com account but my real
e-mail account is pretty clear. Occasionally I scan polbox
account for some newsgroup related letters but there is
always a chance I miss it between 200 offers of viagra ;-)

If anybody knows 3rd, better method fighting with spam
- please let me know...

Dear all,

Has anybodyelse experiencing a massive increase in the amount of
e-mails recently, normally for viagra, and increasing the size of your
wallet and other parts ?

Hang all spammers by their private parts, 1 minute for every spam
message sent.
Same goes for companies who annoy us all with this crap.
Boycot them, LEave rubbish on thier front doors, see how they like it
when they have to sift through garbage before they start work every day.
I'd love to get my own back on these a-holes.
IMO there should be severe penalties for individuals and companies who
bulk email spam, massive fines and jail terms too might do the trick.

To fight spam, I finally decided to run my own email server. I purchased an
internet domain and run Microsoft's Small Business Server 2003. SBS 2003 is
not cheap but being in control of my own mail server allows me to send
whatever size messages I want, have an unlimited amount of mailboxes and
email aliases and control spam by using the mail servers built in
unsolicited message filtering tools. Also, if you have one of the newer
"Smartphones" which run Windows Mobile 2003, you can have your email sync
wirelessly to your cell phone. Sure this is a bit of overkill for just 1 or
2 mailboxes but the benefits outweighed the cost for me. Heck, I have spent
alot more on my tank over the past few years.
