Hi all,
I own a Eheim classic 2213 filter. The filter came with already
installed substrate, tiny ceramic cylinders, and various filter pads. I
merely washed them under RO water, and installed it on my 29 Reef tank.
My question is: how often do I have to clean/replace the filter pads,
and the substrate and cylinders. I assume the substrate and little
cylinders harbor the beneficial bacteria, but do they still have to be
cleaned/rinsed?
Should I use the carbon pad as well? I've heard certain opinions that I
should not use it on reef / LR setups. I also run a powerhead with a
filter attached, and a Red Sea hangon protein skimmer.
TIA,
Rich
