Hospital / Fry tank that runs completly silent? No Noise? Is it possible?

Hi again everybody,

I want to set-up an extra 20 gallon tank, that I have in storage doing
absolutly nothing, as a hospital / fry tank. The problem is the only place
I can set it up is the bedroom, so if this is to become possible, it's going
to have to be absolutly quiet.

So what kind of equipement is so quiet to the point of being silent, and
also fry safe / medication safe? Anybody have any experience with that?

Small powerhead with a sponge filter.

What's the purpose of the powerhead? Must I find a way to plug it
into the sponge filter? Or is it simply to provide water current in
the tank?

I'm asking because as far as I know (and beleive me I still have a
whole lot to learn), sponge filter operate with airline tubing
connected to an air pump (at least the ones that my LFS sells, if
there are others that works differently please make same
recommendations). And the powerheads I've seen seems to be connected
on a bigger tube (coming from an undergravel filter I guess). So I'm
not sure exactly how to set up this thing.

BTW, until I find something better, I've set up the tank with a
BioFoam double sponge filter from Hagen (
http://www.hagen.com/usa/aquatic/product.cfm?CAT=1&SUBCAT=107&PROD_ID=01009020020101
).

There is nothing wrong with using air bubbles to create your water flow
through the sponge, except that it does not meet your criteria (that it
runs completely silent). A powerhead is a water pump, and being
underwater, is fairly silent. The air-driven sponges require an air pump
outside the aquarium. Air pumps are not known to be silent ;~), unless
you install them far away from your bedroom and use a long air line.
