View Full Version : Angels breeding how to control

Hi All,

My angel fish pair have spawned three times in the last 30 days. So far, by
isolating the eggs and carefully pipetting the wigglers from the
unfertilized eggs, I have managed to bring past the wiggler stage 10 and 9
fishes from the first and second spawning, respectively. VERY NEAT!!! BBS is
the only way.
I am grateful for these additions, but am beginning to worry about the
parents... how much longer will this go on?
How can I better control it, temperature?

Thanks for the replies!

Angels will go through a spawning cycle that lasts for a couple months or
so. After that, they will take a break.
A slight reduction may reduce the frequency of spawns. You could also
consider leaving a spawn with them. If they are caring for fry, they won't
lay more eggs.

Raising the pH a little, to say, 7.0 or 7.2 often ends spawning.

Similarly, at least in my experience, lowering it to 6.8 or 6.6 often
induces spawning, especially with a water change and some live food.
