are there any barramundi keepers in this NG? I have a barra who is about
15cm long and growing every day. He's a great pet with lots of personality
and a ferocious appetite! He eats about 10 guppies a day and then some more
at night.

I also have 2 golden gourami's & 2 bolivian butterflies, does anyone have
any info on breeding these species?

actually I meant he eats alot of gudgeons, they are a small native
Australian fish that are sold as feeder fish. they are nothing like the
ornamental guppies that you guys have. (I can just picture all the guppy
lovers recoiling in horror!!)

I've bred blue gouramis, they're not exactly gold gouramis, but I wouldn't
be surprised if their breeding habits are the same (are gold gouramis just
a different morph of blue gouramis?). Maybe you can try this. I put the
female in a 10 gallon breeding tank. The water was 6" deep, pH ~7.0 and
temp 80*F, with a floating brazilian pennywort plant and a floating
margarine container lid to attach the bubble nest to. The same day I put
the male in. By the next day the margarine lid was covered with bubbles.
Eventually the bubble nest mostly went away but the male quickly made
another one. A day after he rebuilt the nest they started mating. When
they stopped this I removed the female. Once the eggs hatched and the fry
started swimming around I removed the male. At first I fed the fry liquid
fry food, then slowly switched to bbs and then powdered flake food. Hope
this helps.

Hi thanks for that info, I have never bred any fish before but I am very
keen to start. I think I should probably have more than 1 female and 1 male
Gourami in my tank because the male is constantly hassling the female and
she spends most of her day hiding between the heater and the tank wall.
every time she comes out he just chases her around. I have read I can stop
this by getting at least one more female. have you heard of this??
