Sand Problems...

[Telemundo]

Just got through setting up a 75 gal. Cichlid tank. Used some sand
substrate from the local fish store and after putting it in the water is
nearly milky white. Well, I thought nothing of it and was going to let it
sit about 48 hours and settle before filtering. Nothing. Still milky
white. Put enough filters on to clean a 140 gal. A little just changing
filters often and no advancedment. Now I have resorted to vacuuming water
out and putting more in. Going to do that a couple of times and see if that
helps. It is cloudy enough that I can't see my background. but after one
water change I can see it more. In the meantime. Suggestions are welcomed.

I used sand for my tank and that happened also. I did a complete water
change and it helped a great deal. When I put the new water back in, I let
it trickle in real slow so it wouldn't stir up the sand. After a few hours,
it was crystal clear and still is.

Use floss somewhere in the filter and wait a few days...it will clear
up. Once it does it will stay that way. If you stop filtering and let
it settle...it will come back again in the future. Just keep it
stirred up by filtering.....and switch it a little .......and let nature
take it course. It will clear up, but may take several days even a
week. But when it does....it will stay clean.....even of you disturb
the sand in the future.
