friends to cichlids?

What fish are pretty safe around cichlids? I have aquired a 75 gal. tank
this week and have a couple of cichlids in there. what is a good fish to
put in there that can hold it's on with them?

It depends on what type of cichlids you already have, your water conditions,
the decor of the aquarium including filter type, and what you want in a
tankmate besides holding its own.
You have the time to do some research while you are waiting for the water to
clear, and the aquarium to cycle. Additional fish would best be delayed for
perhaps a month.

I have to say that i havent had a tank for that long now,
so i am a bit of a newbie, but i have 2 Bala Sharks in my tank
and they are just about the nicest and good natured fish i
have ever seen,
They do have a little fight between themselves on occasion
but thats only once a week :-)
They swim together and freely around the whole tank,
and it seems that they are not even aware of the other fish in
my tank. ( although i know they are )
Get a couple and if they are like mine you will not be dissapointed.
