I'm not too sure if there are any rock experts on this group, but I'm
wondering if anyone knows if the mineral chlorite is safe? I'm hoping to use
some black/green slate and apparently the green color is caused by chlorite.
Thanks,
Harry

Chlorite is Iron Aluminium Magnesium Silicate Hydroxide, and (oddly)
nothing to do with Chlorine - it is actually a clay. Chemically (Fe, Mg,
Al)6(Si, Al)4O10(OH)8 and pretty inert. Should be safe as houses - even
if it does break down there is nothing there to be harmful.
