Just wondering if anyone keeps these in their aquariums. Ive been to
Chicago's and Seattle's aquariums in the past week and a half and have seen
so many of these guys that it got me wondering if anyone keeps them. Granted
they would have to be pretty much kept by themeselves but there has to be
someone out there with an interest in them right? Anyway Ive got some
pictures from Seattles aquarium of them if anyone wants to check them out
just post and Ill get them up with the Shedd aquarium photos.Salute,-Brian

Leafy sea dragons and weedy sea dragons are very tightly controlled even as
to how many can be collected. They are only available to major zoos, public
aquariums and research facilities. I am afraid this is a couple more of
outstanding fish that all we can do is look at in the right facilities.
As an aside, the last price I saw for a specimen bought for a public
aquarium in Australia, was $50,000 USD.

AFAIK, they are protected species here in Australia; seeing that they are
only found in Australia, the answer would be "no". They are amazing
creatures to see in the wild though (having seen both on scuba), especially
the leafy (but that may be because the weedies are common in Sydney).
