For reasons to boring to mention, I had to
put a pair of Nannacara anomala in a 10g tank
with a few other waifs and strays.
Originally it was a Molly tank and it still has
tufa rock in it and the water is salty.
(About 1 tbs per 3 gals). Not ideal but it was
only for a week or so. The tank had a couple
of male mollies (1 full grown) and a Blue Acara
that I got as a fry in some plants at an auction.
It's about 2 inches now and growing at a rate of knots.
Anyway I've been slowly bringing down the
salt level with water changes every other day
and a couple of days ago I noticed the female
N. anomala was in full on breeding colours.
Very dark and stripy. I've been feeding them
Tetramin Pro (the only dry food they'll eat)
and frozen brine shrimp.
This morning all the occupants were getting
very chummy behind the filter apart from
Mrs anamola who was guarding the entrance
to a little flower pot. A quick glance with a torch
this evening confirmed that she'd spawned.
A well, another bout of musical fish in the
morning. Wonder if I can justify another
tank to the missus?
