Do UV units work well with freshwater to kill algae??

It would kill the algae that gives you green water. It will also
clarify the water column even more. I use one in my 150 gallon tank
full time. I have a smaller 8 watt hang-on that I can use as needed on
my other tanks if I have an issue that needs to be addressed.

If I develop a pea soup situation, the hang-on will completely eliminate
it in about 2 days....and the problem rarely recurs....

would it help with any types of hair algae? this is my main problem on
my plants i was thinking a UV or bedfilter dont know which one to go
with... any advice would be help full... also a small note i am not
usuing a undergravel

It doesn't seem to affect any other types of algae. Just the ones in
the water column.....

Curious, What wattage are you using on the 150G tank. Would you go larger
or smaller if you had to do it over again?
