I've had several tanks, the present one is acrylic with a black back, community fresh water, all plastic plants.
I have normal algae grow and it's under control. But I have never seen algae grow on the black back of the tank. Anyone know why?
Thanks, Bill

The black back absorbs light making it much darker, so it's less
hospitable for a light loving plant like algae.
