Has anyone had any experience with those ammonia reading gadgets that
are sold at the LFS? It is a small card-like item that sticks inside
the tank. It is color coded to show the presence of ammonia.

Thanks for any input!

They're really good and probably saved many of my fish in the 110 gallon tank
when it suddendly had an ammonia spike (due to human error, of course).

Seachem Ammonia Alert, one of the best inventions for the new (and old)
aquarists I have seen in quite a while. Defiantly beats the traditional
test kits. A point of caution though, they only work in higher pH water
as it states on the package. It only shows Ammonia level, not ammonium.
Hence its perfect for use as a guide for folks that add Amquel and the
like to detox ammonia....

A useless device in soft acidic water....
