i have 3 zebra stripped danios i need to move to another tank;
which would be better?
20 gallon - 5 tiger barbs (two stripped, three green)
25 gallon - 4 angelfish (two med., two small), 2 oto cats
the danios are left over feeders that survived and got moved into the 15 gallon
i need to clear out, (i've kinda grown attached to them ;-)
they are; 2 adult males, 1 adult female
tanks for the help! :-)

Slight possibility of harassment by the Tiger barbs, and an equal chance
that they will pester the Angels, so it's an even call depending on which
fish are your favourites ;~). On the basis of feeding, I'd put them with
the Tigers as the Angels will have a harder time getting any food past
the danios. If mixing them with the Tigers, you might consider adding
them at night and/or after a feeding and adding a few more danios
(depends on the relative size differences between the danios and Tigers).

thanks for the replies guys.
i'm putting them in with the tiger barbs for a couple of reasons; i feel more
comfortable with the fish load in the 20 gal (the barb tank). the barbs keep
mostly to the bottom half of the tank while the danios keep more to the top. i'm
gonna have to keep an eye on them all durring feeding time, but i dont think the
barbs will have a problem getting food, they are fairly aggressive feeders that
come straight to the surface to eat.
my ultimate goal when i actually get a 55 gal. is to move everyone from the 20
into it and eventually finish off to a total of about 6-8 danios, 6-8 tiger
barbs (green mostly), 4-6 pictus catfish, 3-5 oto cats. i'm a bit concerned
about the pictus cats, how well would they fit with this type of a mix?

I would have concerns about the Pictus. They are highly developed eating
machines, using a wide barbel-span to detect and scare things into their
mouths. In a 55g with a sufficient food supply, they would reach a
proportion which could become predatory to all your other fish. JMO
I currently have 2 Pictus with some large (2") Platys. A few months ago,
the Pictus were barely bigger than the Platys. Now one is about 3.5" and
I'm becoming worried. Their appetites seem insatiable.
