This could be a problem. I tried two different species of Gourami with
one of my bettas, and he did his level best to kill them. Your success
will depend a lot on the temperament of your betta. Bettas vary a
great deal in personality from one fish to another.

That's not too much fish load for an Eclipse 12, at least once the
bio-wheel is well-established. You'll need to do fairly frequent water
changes early on while the biological filtration is starting up.
