I'm currently cycleing a Malawi tank. Fortunately, I should be able to use
my straight well water (GH = 17 pH ~ 7.8). Someone suggested keeping Kubutu
(Turquoise/lacustris) Rainbows with them. Will these water parameters be
acceptable to that species?

Thanks! Yes, that link was one of my sources. Everything I've been able to
find indicates that it's probably ok. I just hate to do "probably" with any
living creature. It would be nice though. Those rainbows with some blue
and yellow Aulonocara should make for an Impressive display.
