View Full Version : Another Bloody Algae Question!!

Over the last couple of days, I have spent a few quid on slowly changing my
water quality conditions. I bought an RO unit and an electronic CO2 system
in an attempt to eradicate or at least severely retard nasty horrible thread
algae. I have removed much from the tank as I normally do when doing the
routine weekly tank maintenance. Water quality in this part of East London
(UK) is atrocious. Very hard and laden with nitrates and phosphates.

I have this idea of simply placing the tank decorations ( bog wood ) into a
fairly hot oven and baking it at about 110'C to kill the remaining algae
cells which may decide to burst into some sort of fiendish terrorist attack
upon their replacement.

Has anyone tried this method of cleaning and if so, did it work?

Bradley.
