well dont go with goldfish, the rule with goldfish is one fish per 10
gallons. here is a link you need to read about setting up an aquarium and
the cycling process and having patience and tank maintenance once you get it
up and running. buy a heater for the tank and go with tropicals, you can
have more then just one in the tank and there is more color and variety.

That tank is not large enough for goldfish- no wonder you are seeing
failure.

You don't have a gift for killing fish- you just have gotten bad advice.
Fishkeeping is a challenge to be sure, but there are easy steps to take to
make sure things go well. Proper choice of fish is a big part of your
success/failure- and you were given *very bad* advice on what fish to
choose.

Please go to http://faq.thekrib.com/begin.html asap and do a bit of reading
on cycling your aquarium before you buy any more fish. Then consider
carefully which species to add after your tank is cycled. There is a list of
"good beginner fish" and "bad beginner fish" at
http://faq.thekrib.com/fish-popular.html .

Just go slowly (and stop buying fish) until you understand cycling and how
the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate thing works.
The links I've provided send you to a wealth of information- the more time
you spend reading the more success you will find in this hobby.
It's a steep learning curve initially but it slows down after that.
You *can* keep fish alive- you really can. You've just got to invest some
time in learning how and why aquariums work.
